In our home, we really want to choose fair trade when we can, and where it makes sense. Coffee and tea are two of those areas that really make sense (and chocolate – you already know I love and buy good amounts of fair trade chocolate!). And jewelry, too!
Level Ground, our favourite Fair Trade coffee company, sent me some samples to try out. We love the coffee – it’s an obvious pick. Perfect for gift-giving or just for your own coffee at home! New to me was the Level Ground Chai – and it’s DELICIOUS. So flavourful, so pretty in little tea pyramids, and so fragrant.
The dried fruit – mango and banana – are amazing, and I love their dried pineapple. Fabulous little gifts, and unique to tuck into a stocking or gift basket! We’re using the Level Ground Ceylon cinnamon – which is real, fresh cinnamon, not loaded with fillers – in our baking this weekend. So worth buying the good stuff – which has been ethically sourced, directly from the farmers who produce and prepare it.
There’s a great recipe I make every year with Level Ground vanilla beans – you can find the easy-peasy treat in my Christmas recipe guide (see the “P.S.” below), or right here!
And, to make my west-coast heart happy, Level Ground just happens to be located in Victoria, BC.
